What Is Your Name?

Sarah R.

What is your occupation?

I lead Customer Experience at an insurance company based out of Portland, Oregon. I’ve been at the company for 9 and a half years. My primary responsibility is to ensure we are collecting and using customer feedback to inform our decisions and focus to create a positive experience for our customers and partners.

How was your body before Trevor Kashey Nutrition?

Prior to TKN, my body was pretty beat down. I was experiencing extremely high levels of stress at work and continued to put other people’s needs and expectations before my own. I did not track and measure my food or my body weight consistently. I would think and say negative things to myself (some I was aware of and others I was not). I would self-sabatoge by binge eating and then beat myself up the next day by trying to eat hardly anything – usually only to binge eat again at night. I also went completely off of “feel”. For example, I would say things like, “I feel like I’m eating pretty healthy, why am I not losing weight?” I would also lie to myself and say things like, “I’m ok with my body and how I look” when in reality I was sad and often embarrassed at the way I looked. I was inconsistently exercising and rarely ever walking. The biggest thing I would call out about my body before working with TKN, is that I was working AGAINST it and not WITH it. I didn’t realize how mean I was to myself and the way I was defining my self worth was very unhealthy. The scale often defined my self worth and the conversations I would have with myself before or even after I stepped on the scale were degrading and demonstrative. I was not an active participant with my mind and body.

How did that (state of being) make you feel?

Being that way, made me feel sad, ashamed, guilty and even hopeless. I didn’t realize I felt that way until working with TKN and assessing the conversations, expectations, feelings and beliefs I had on a consistent basis. I often had low energy to do anything and felt uncomfortable when I did exercise or workout. Everything felt hard.

What were you unable to do that you wished you could do?

At the time I was unable to lose weight and I really wanted to. But I have also found that beyond that, I really wanted to have a better relationship with myself and losing weight is really just a side effect. I wanted to have the tools to be healthy and successful in various situations like family events, traveling, work events, etc.

During that time, how did your current state of being affect those around you?

During that time, I was often short with family members and envious of them for being healthier and happier. I would also seek constant approval from my fiance and family to try and mend the damage I had done to myself. I was constantly putting myself down so I would look most often to my fiance for constant compliments to try and mend the wound. I had NO AWARENESS this is why during and after my self-sabotaging behavior, I would ask him to compliment me. After working with TKN, not only do I not seek out those compliments, I realize how much he does it already. Also during this time and at work, I often had a short fuse and my patience and flexibility was pretty rigid. I wouldn’t necessarily show it on the outside but I could feel it on the inside.

How did you hear about Trevor Kashey Nutrition?

I heard about TKN through my fiance who had worked with Trevor a few years ago. He was a huge fan of his and when the 12 week challenge came up, he encouraged me to reach out to learn more. Best decision I ever made.
.

What were your doubts and fears before starting the program?

My doubts before starting the program were around how rigid or restrictive the program might be. I’ve done multiple nutrition programs and even personal coaches and none of it has dug into the behavior and feedback loops like TKN. Yes, this is a nutrition program but it’s also SO MUCH MORE! The weekly lessons, the community, the access to experts, the personalized coaching, the accountability, the list goes on… There is no better program and team out there to support people to build better versions of themselves and live a healthy and happy life.

What made you say YES anyways?

After seeing some of the progress pictures from other members, reading testimonials and talking with Mickey and Trevor, I decided to say yes. I loved the way TKN positioned this as addressing behaviors and breaking down beliefs. I had not thought about nutrition and losing weight that way. But it turns out, that’s the best way to make progress and completely transform yourself. 🙂

Where is your body/mind now?

Today, after completing a 12 week challenge with TKN, I have the best relationship I’ve ever had with myself. I have gone from being a complete jerk to myself to loving myself more than I ever have. I have lost over 20 pounds and dropped 2 sizes in clothes! I constantly say YES to myself and I am able to show up better for my friends, family and coworkers. I have a new set of beliefs, I know why I want to make these changes and I have the energy to accomplish my goals and learn new things.

How does that make you feel?

After completing the challenge, I feel strong, confident, empowered and proud. I can see the physical change and feel the mental transformation and I am super proud of it. I can’t wait to continue on my journey with TKN and do the private client coaching. I am so grateful to Trevor and the entire TKN team.

What are you able to do now that you were not able to do before?

After the challenge, I am able to go on hikes and long walks without getting out of breath. I am able to stay on plan and not punish myself when mistakes are made. I am able to eat the things that I enjoy without self sabotaging myself for having them. I am able to support my friends and family in the ways that they need me and in ways that align with what I am able to do by consistently evaluating my priorities, resources, expectations. I am able to weigh myself daily and not tie it to my self worth. I am able to consistently track my food and not feel like it’s a burden or an exercise of restriction and being rigid. I also went to the doctor and my blood pressure is down and I’m on my way to putting myself in a good position to have kids in the next year or two.

What positive impact did that have on others around you that you might not have expected?

I didn’t expect for my family specifically to become so interested in what I was doing. I am lucky and have an incredible support system who never pushes anything on me. I have been my own worst enemy. BUT, during the challenge my family would eat off the power foods list when we were together, they would ask me about the lessons each week AND when we were at events they would make sure I felt supported and that I had what I needed. My family has constantly told me that they are really proud of me and the work I’ve done throughout this challenge.

What would you tell someone who is reading this right now and is unsure about taking the next step?

DO IT NOW! This will be the best decision you can make to say yes to yourself. This is not like any of the other programs that you see or hear about. This program will help you assess your beliefs, behaviors and feedback loops to help you put together a plan to reach your goals. This program will help you have a better relationship with yourself and those around you. This program is a lot of work but if you trust it, give it your all, be open minded, the results will be priceless. I could not recommend this program more!! Best decision I made in 2020!

How likely are you to recommend TKN to a friend?

I would recommend TKN to my friends, family and frankly anyone I came into contact with. If you want to have a better, more fulfilling life, this program is for you. I would think of it more as life coaching with weight loss and muscle gain as a side effect. You will not regret investing in this program and joining the TKN family.
