Samantha L.

What is your occupation?

I am a university administrator – I oversee the research, graduate education, and outreach arm of the university, along with our accelerated online programs. I am also a faculty member in the environmental science department.

How was your body before Trevor Kashey Nutrition?

Before TKN I had fallen off track for a variety of reasons – I went through menopause and was having a hard time adjusting to the changes in my body as a result of that. I also got married (and honeymooned at an all-inclusive resort) which resulted in a hit to my healthy eating habits. The result was a gain of about 30 pounds and the feeling of being out of control.

How did that (state of being) make you feel?

All of this lead to feelings of sadness and depression about not being happy with the way I looked, and how I felt about myself.

What were you unable to do that you wished you could do?

I was still able to perform the exercises I wanted to, but everything was harder. And, I had to buy larger clothes.

During that time, how did your current state of being affect those around you?

Certainly, my unhappiness and depression impacted my husband – he was sad that I wasn’t feeling good about myself and trying to cheer me up and be helpful. He was also spending a lot of time researching and strategizing with me about what I could do to reverse the weight gain trend.

How did you hear about Trevor Kashey Nutrition?

I read an article in an Outside magazine where the writer had worked with Trevor, and then I looked it up online.

What were your doubts and fears before starting the program?

Everyone that is profiled on the website/FB looks very young and fit. In other words, to my novice eye, they looked pretty darn fit before they started. Yes, they looked even more buff when they were done, but they largely looked like they were gaining definition, not struggling with lots of body fat. There were no profiles of middle age post-menopausal heavy set women going through the program or testimonials about their results. Hence – lots of fear that this program wasn’t “for people like me”.

What made you say YES anyways?

I had to try something, and the challenge was economically feasible for me.

Where is your body/mind now?

I am happy with the results I have seen. I have lost weight, and I have learned about macros, and tracking, which will benefit me in the long run.

How does that make you feel?

I feel more in control, and happy with my progress. I can run again without feeling like I am putting too much stress on my joints.

What are you able to do now that you were not able to do before?

As I said before, I can do the same things I was doing before, but I am doing them better and faster, and it doesn’t take me so long to recover.

What positive impact did that have on others around you that you might not have expected?

Well, we have been in quarantine for almost all of the Challenge, so there isn’t anyone around me besides my husband. But, when I am happier, he is happier!

What would you tell someone who is reading this right now and is unsure about taking the next step?

It is worth the investment, at least for 12 weeks, to gain the tools you need to be successful.

How likely are you to recommend TKN to a friend?

Quite likely!
